VISION, MISSION, VALUES & BELIEFS

“A Safe Place to grow in faith”

At Cedar Creek Church, we believe an emotionally and spiritually safe space is the best environment for people to grow. We seek to be a safe place where you are accepted as you are, where you grow in your understanding of Jesus Christ, and where you ultimately feel empowered to share the love, hope, and peace of Christ with others.

Our vision & mission

To glorify God by leading people into a growing faith in Jesus Christ and authentic relationships with one another, equipping them to share God’s love in the world.

Our Values

Faith: Faith must come first because it is the foundation of and the reason for everything else that we do. It encompasses faith in God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and everything else we believe as revealed in Scripture.

Outreach: Outreach is what our faith calls us to do. It encompasses evangelism, serving the community, missions, and every way we reach out to others to share the Gospel and meet practical needs.

Relationship: We need and seek relationship because it is the means by which we communicate with God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ. It is how we experience prayer and worship. God seeks relationship with us, and Jesus restores our relationship. Building authentic relationships enables us to share the Gospel and meet the practical needs of others.

Growth: We seek growth in so many ways. We want to grow and deepen our faith, our relationships, our outreach endeavors, and our understanding of Scripture. We want to lead more people to Christ, make more disciples, and see the congregation of Cedar Creek Church grow, not only in numbers but in all of the above.

Equipping: Equipping supports all of our other values and begins with prayer, prayer, and more prayer. Equipping also includes teaching, training, discipling, encouraging, empowering, and giving of our time, talent, and treasure. This means finding and learning how to use our spiritual gifts and natural talents, and being good stewards of the resources God has given us, like our property and finances, so we can effectively use them for His purposes.

Our beliefs

We believe there is one perfect, holy, and powerful God who exists in the three persons of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Father created all things and seeks a loving relationship with His creation.

The Son Jesus Christ is the One who came and lived among us, died to remove the penalty of humanity’s sins, and rose from the dead to bring us a full and eternal life.

The Holy Spirit is God’s active presence and power in all believers and the world.

The Bible is God’s revealed Word that instructs, encourages, and corrects all who follow Him.

our statements of faith

  1. Centrality of Jesus Christ. We pursue a whole-life commitment to Jesus Christ, His Kingdom, and His love for lost people. Matthew 6:33 – But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

  2. Power of the Holy Spirit. We live in daily dependence upon the power of the Holy Spirit through prayer and sensitivity to His leading. Acts 1:8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

  3. Authority of Scripture. We affirm the Bible as God’s authoritative and infallible Word by proclaiming, studying, and obeying it. 2 Timothy 3:14-17 – But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that all God’s people may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  4. Holistic View of the Faith Life. We engage in a lifestyle of worship and holiness that seeks God’s glory above all else which evidences itself in every aspect of our life, body, and each arena of our influence and involvement. Romans 12:1-2 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is true worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

  5. Importance of Small Groups. We grow by gathering in small groups for authentic fellowship, Bible study, prayer, mutual ministry, and outreach. Small groups are also our frontline for congregational care. Mark 3:14 – He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach.

  6. Integrity of Relationships. Just as we seek to live an authentic life in Christ, we commit to being authentic with each other by speaking the truth in love and extending grace to each other. We also commit individually and as a church body to personal vulnerability, conflict resolution, and forgiveness. Ephesians 4:15 – Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the head, that is, Christ.

  7. Use of Spiritual Gifts. We serve according to our Spirit-given gifts for the common good and to reach the world. 1 Corinthians 12:7 – Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

  8. The Blessing of Giving. We honor God through the biblical stewardship of our time, talent, and treasure. Matthew 25:21 – His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”

  9. A Life of Mission. We structure ourselves to be missional: a flexible and outward- looking church that gives away ministry and plants new disciples. Besides being on mission together here where we are planted, we also exist as a missional outpost for those on local or global mission to come home for refreshment, equipping, sharing, support, and sending out again. John 20:21 – Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

  10. A Diverse Church. We embrace a diverse church (generational, socioeconomic, racial, giftedness) in order to reflect the breadth and beauty of the Kingdom of God. Galatians 3:28 – There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
