Spreading Joy
This February, employees for the City of Tualatin will be hiding 175 hand-blown glass hearts around local parks, trails, and walkways as a part of their "Share the Love" campaign. Those who discover a decorative heart are encouraged to either keep it or hide it again so someone else can experience the joy of discovery.
This year's glass artist is Timothy Jaquet from Tacoma, Washington, who began blowing glass in 2015 when his wife surprised him with a two-hour private glass blowing lesson:
"I hope it's something the family can remember," Jaquet said about the February Share the Love campaign. "I want somebody to find something they find appealing and that they are excited to go out and look for."
The hearts will be hidden throughout the month of February, beginning on February 1, and officials hope the gesture spreads joy to all who participate. Organizers encourage all who discover a heart to snap a photo and tag #ShareTheLoveTualatin so they can share the love through social media as well.
"Do not forget to do good and to share with others," Hebrews 13:16 reminds us, and the reminder is apt in these rainy mostly post-pandemic days. And now it's your turn: How will you spread Christ's joy today?
Christ's peace to you this week,
Jennie
