“Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
- Psalm 30:5b (ESV)
In my memory, I call my 7th/8th grade year "THE YEAR OF TEARS." I think I cried at some point every day that school year. My Bible Quiz coach gave me a New Testament Bible and wrote this passage inside the cover. It became my first life verse—my first Holy Spirit-spoken promise of hope from the Lord. It reminds me that sadness and grief are temporary emotions that, in a healthy brain, will pass. The context of the entire Psalm reminds me that God is in charge and will bring joy to my heart as I trust Him. He will replace the heartache with healing gladness.
What is one time when God replaced sorrow with joy in your heart and mind? Diane Anderson
Prayer: Lord, I pray that we will remember your faithfulness and trust in your rescue. I pray that while we wait on your gift of joy, you would fill our hearts with hope in the midst of our sorrow. In Jesus's Name, Amen.
