Our Mission, Vision & Beliefs

Our Tagline
Our church’s tagline is "a safe place to grow in faith." We know that many people have had negative experiences with Christians and churches. We seek to be a safe place where you are accepted as you are regardless of how new you are to Christianity. We believe a relationally and spiritually safe place is the best environment for people to grow spirtually.

Our Mission
To lead self-reliant people into Christ-centered community and beyond. We want people to find the freedom and joy of relying not on themselves but on Jesus Christ and the spiritual family gathered them.

Our Vision
To change lives in our communities through launching “Lifeboats” that help people belong to one another, believe in Jesus Christ, and become disciples who grow other disciples, groups and churches.

Our Values
Our church is structured around three core values:
   • rooted in Christ
(John 15:1-11)
   • growing in community
(Acts 2:42-47)
   • planting in the world
(Matthew 28:18-20)

Our Statements of Faith and Practice
What we believe, and how we strive to live in response to what we believe.

1.
Centrality of Jesus Christ. We pursue a whole-life commitment to Jesus Christ, His Kingdom, and His love for lost people. Matthew 6:33 - But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

2.
Power of the Holy Spirit. We live in daily dependence upon the power of the Holy Spirit through prayer and sensitivity to His leading. Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

3.
Authority of Scripture. We affirm the Bible as God’s authoritative and infallible Word by proclaiming, studying, and most importantly, obeying it. 2 Timothy 3:14-17 - But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that all God’s people may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

4.
Holistic view of the faith life. We engage in a lifestyle of worship and holiness that seeks God’s glory above all else which evidences itself in every aspect of our life, body, and in each arena of our influence and involvement. Romans 12:1-2 - Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is true worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

5.
Importance of Lifeboats. We grow best by gathering in small groups for authentic fellowship, Bible study, prayer, mutual ministry, and outreach. Lifeboats are also our frontline for congregational care. Mark 3:14 - He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach.

6.
Integrity of Relationships. Just as we seek to live an authentic life in Christ, we commit to being authentic with each other by speaking the truth in love and extending grace to each other. We also commit individually and as a church body to personal vulnerability, conflict resolution, and forgiveness. Ephesians 4:15 - Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the head, that is, Christ.

7.
Use of Spiritual Gifts. We serve according to our Spirit-given gifts for the common good and to reach the world. 1 Corinthians 12:7 - Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

8.
The Blessing of Giving. We honor God through the biblical stewardship of our time, talent, and treasure. Matthew 25:21 - His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”

9.
A Life of Mission. We structure ourselves to be missional: a flexible and outward-looking church that gives away ministry and plants churches. Besides being on mission together here where we are plated, we also exist as a missional outpost for those on local or global mission to come home for refreshment, equipping, sharing, support, and sending out again. John 20:21 - Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

10.
A Diverse Church. We embrace a diverse church (generational, socioeconomic, racial, giftedness) in order to reflect the breadth and beauty of the Kingdom of God. Galatians 3:28 - There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

What We Believe
We believe there is one God, who is holy and sovereign, who created all things and who exists in loving relationship with His creation. This one God exists eternally in the three persons of the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Son, Jesus Christ, is the One who is fully God and fully human, who came and lived among us. His earthly life was one of perfect obedience, teaching God's good news, and dying on the cross for our sins. But He was raised from the dead and lives now and forever as the Redeemer of humankind!

The Holy Spirit is God's active presence and power in all believers and for the world.

The theological issue facing all of humanity is our separation from God, which is a result of human sin. We also know God has provided a way for people to be reconciled to God through a relationship with Jesus Christ. God has demonstrated love for us by providing Jesus Christ, God’s Son, to pay the penalty for our sins (Romans 5:8). By simply receiving God’s offer of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, we are made holy and acceptable to God (John 1:12).

We affirm that Jesus Christ alone is Lord of all and the only way of salvation.

We further affirm that Holy Scripture is the triune God's revealed Word, the Church’s only infallible and divine authoritative witness to Jesus Christ, and is our guide for faith and life. Thus God's people are called to live according to biblical standards, reflecting God’s holiness in all aspects of life. When we fail, we are assured of the forgiveness provided through Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin, calls us to repentance, and gives us the power to rise up and live as children of God.
